Do I need an appointment? No. We are a walk-in only, no appointments necessary.
Can I make an appointment? No,, but we do allow established patients to sign-in over the phone if they are on their way in. New patients may do the same -Please see the information on the Registration Page.
Please help us keep our prices low by paying the required deductible and co payments at the time of service, and by responding promptly to billing statements.
Will I be required to pay anything at the time of service? Our office policy is that you pay at the time of your service. We take Master Charge, Visa and Discover card, ATM's and also offer "holding" a Post Dated check up to 3 weeks -if you arrange this prior to the visit.
How much does it cost to be seen? Our charges average from $75 to $110 for the Doctor's visit. Any labs, X-rays, injections or other services are additional charges. The exact charge is determined after you are seen by the Doctor and is based on time and complexity of the medical complaint.
Will you bill my insurance? We bill most insurances as a courtesy to our patients. However, your deductible and co payment amounts may be different when utilizing a PPO Provider vs a Non-PPO Provider. This is due to your insurance contract. Our cash prices are similar to the regular allowed insurance amounts. To determine if we are a PPO Provider, it is recommended that you contact your insurance company directly.
If you are Billing my insurance, will I still need to pay at the time of service? Yes. But we try to limit the out-of-pocket expenses by knowing the allowed amounts for the visit. If your insurance company accepts electronic billing, a payment is processed in 2 weeks.- Please see our Insurance Billing Policy Page.
What i lf I have a problem with my bill or statement? Please contact the office that provided the service.
Do you see Medicare patients? Yes, but we are not on assignment with Medicare. We can see Medicare patients, however, they must pay Medicare rates at the time of service. We will then submit the claim and Medicare will respond directly to you. Please see our Medicare Policy Page.
Do you take MediCal or CMSP? NO. Unfortunately we do not have a MediCal Provider therefore cannot see MediCal patients.
Do you take Medicare-MediCal Patients? No. We are a Non-Participating provider on MediCare and do not have a provider number with MediCal. We do not accept assignment and therefore cannot see patients with these two insurances together.
Do you do DMV, DOT or Truck Driver/Class A Physicals? Yes, the current "special" cash-pay price for a DMV physical is $55. We also do many other kinds of physical exams. Our regular rates range from $55 and up, depending on the physical exam forms. **Please Note: We do not file your DMV physical with the DMV office - That is your responsibility**
How much is a High School Sports or Pop Warner Sports Physical? We have a "special" cash-pay on these for $20 each. Other sport physicals may cost more depending on the actual physical exam form. Contact our office for price a quote.
Do you do Immigration Physicals? Yes. Please come in between the hours of 9:30am to 3pm daily, if possible. Also, if you have a group of 3 or more that are all over the age of 15, please space out your arrival times for each person. These physicals are time-consuming and you may have a substantial wait if you are in a group.
What do I need to bring for my Immigration Physical? T he Form I-693, documentation of any vaccinations you received; and an interpreter if you do not feel comfortable with your English speaking skills.
What should I expect when I come in for my Immigration Physical?
The entire visit may take more than one hour. You will need to complete various forms to
register at the clinic. You will need your blood drawn, have a PPD (skin test) placed on
your left forearm (WHICH MUST BE READ IN A 48 TO 72 HOUR WINDOW OF TIME), and the doctor
will do a physical exam. Both men and women will be required to take off their underwear
for this exam. You may need to get immunizations from the Public Health Department in
your local county and return with documentation. It may take one week to get the lab
results. If your PPD test is positive, you will be required to get a chest x-ray. We will
not release the physical paperwork to you until all results are back, you have gotten
all immunizations and you have signed the form. (Parents sign for children under 18 yrs old).
How long does it take to get all the tests back for my Immigration Physical? At least one week.
Do I need to come back to pick up my Immigration Physical or can my spouse pick it up? The patient who had the physical must return to sign and receive the physical forms. Parents must sign for children under 18 years of age.
Do you do FAA Physicals? No. After the death of Dr. Charles, we lost our certification. New arrangements are in progress.
Do you take Workers Comp injuries? Only New injuries. We will need a completed DWC-1 form and a short cover letter from the Employer stating they are requesting our office to provide medical care for their injured employee. Please see Work Comp Policy page.
I went to the Emergency room for my Work Comp injury, can I come to HMC now? Your employer will know what Doctor or facility is on your insurance provider list. If they want you to come to Hilltop Medical Clinic, please have your employer call our staff. (See Employer Info)
Can you do X-rays? Yes. We ask that you please come in to be seen no later than 4pm on the weekdays and by 3pm on the weekends, if possible.
When to use and when not to use HTMC services:
When should I use Hilltop Medical Clinic services? You should come to Hilltop Medical Clinic if you or a family member want convenient, same day treatment of routine medical conditions (such as coughs, colds, flu symptoms, sore throats, & ear aches) and minor injuries, (lacerations, or sprains) or for easy access for sport physicals, and DMV physicals.
Our best medical advise is to have you call your Family Doctor for all medical problems
and questions. Our doctors understand that sometimes it is impossible to see your Family
Doctor due to scheduling.
When should I not use Hilltop Medical Clinic services? Do not come to Hilltop Medical Clinic if you or someone with you is experiencing a medical emergency. Please, immediately call 911. (You may need an ambulance)
Call 911 if you have:
* Severe difficulty breathing (unable to speak more than one word at a time, struggling to catch breath)
* Severe chest pain
* Chest Pain lasting longer than 5 minutes and any of the following:
* Pain is heavy, pressure-like, or crushing in nature.
* History of heart disease (such as heart attack, bypass surgery, angioplasty,angina).
* You have at least one of these cardiac risk factors (such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, smoker, or strong family history of heart disease.
* Already taken Nitroglycerine and the chest pain is not relieved.
* Experienced a loss of consciousness (passed out).
* Are weak and unable to stand.
* Lips or face are bluish in color.
Call your Doctor immediately and/or go to the nearest Hospital Emergency Room if:
* Chest pain that is brought on by exertion and relieved by resting.
* The Chest pain goes into your back, neck, shoulder or down either arm.
* Difficulty breathing or can't take a deep breath.
* Any prior history of blood clots or you are on blood thinners such as Heparin,Coumadinor Plavix.
* Recent hip or leg fracture.
* Recent illness requiring prolonged bed rest within last 30 days.
* Recent long distance travel with prolonged time in a car, bus, plane or train in last 30 days.
* Drug abuse.
* Coughing up blood.
* Heart beating irregularly or very rapidly.
* Child less than 60 days old that has a fever of 100.4 degrees.
* Fever greater than 105 degrees; any age- must go to the Emergency Room.
* Throwing up/vomiting blood or black coffee ground-like material.
* Heavy vaginal bleeding not related to your period or a period lasting more than 7 days
* Vomiting with an abdomen that is larger than normal.
* Abdominal pain and is pregnant or could be pregnant.
* Accident/Injury that you believe caused a serious fracture of a bone with the bone sticking out of skin.
* Major bleeding or spurting of blood that can not be stopped by applying direct pressure.
* Object larger than a splinter piercing skin that can not be easily removed.
Medication Refills:
How do I get my medication refilled? Medication refills (Non Narcotics): If you have been prescribed medications from the doctors at the Hilltop Medical Clinic, call your pharmacy and ask for a refill. They will FAX a refill request to the clinic. Please allow 24 hours for any med refills. Workers Comp injuries medication refills are different, please see Workers Comp medication refills.
How do I get my Vicodin or Norco medication refilled? Medication refills (Narcotics): Hilltop Medical Clinic's policy states that no narcotic medication will be refilled without a Physician seeing and rechecking the patient.
I don't have a Family Doctor in Redding yet, can you refill my medications? Depending on the drug in question, most prescriptions can be filled. This will give you time to set up an appointment with a new Family Doctor in Redding. A list of Doctors accepting new patients is available.
Can HTMC refill my medication if I am vacationing in Redding? The best way to get your medication refilled is to call your doctor that ordered the medication. Explain that you are in Redding and would need to get it filled in Redding. It's a good idea to have the Redding pharmacy's Phone # and FAX # to give to your Doctor so they can either call or FAX in the new order. If you are unable to contact your Doctor, you can be seen at Hilltop Medical Clinic for a charge. There are some medications that we will not be able to refill due to their drug classification.
Can HTMC refill my birth control pills? Yes, but it requires a visit. A pap smear is not required. STD screening may be recommended.
Can Hilltop Medical Clinic be my Family Doctor? Hilltop Medical Clinic is a walk-in clinic and we specialized in episodic care, or acute minor medical care. If you have a chronic health problem that requires you to have ongoing medications and treatment for a specific disease, you need to be seen by one Doctor who can get to know you and plan your medical care.
Can I always see the same Doctor? Yes, but because we are open 7 days a week, there may be a different Doctor on duty each day you come in to the Clinic.
Can I ask to see a specific Doctor? You can always ask for a specific Doctor when you come in to be seen.
If I am vacationing in Redding, can HTMC check my Coumadin level? Yes, but your private Physician may be able to arrange for the testing at a local lab and have the results called to his office. Anticoagulation adjustment is more accurate when monitored by a single provider.
Can I be seen at HTMC for my annual Pap smear? Yes. We would not want you to delay important preventive health care. However, It is best to see your established Family Doctor for subsequent testing if possible.
Can I come to the clinic to get a second opinion about my diagnosis?Yes. Please bring in record, so the Doctor can avoid repeating tests, etc. If your diagnosis was made by a Specialist, your problem may be beyond the scope of the Doctors at Hilltop Medical Clinic. We are happy to see you and help you decide what doctor would be the best for you to consult.
I am having vaginal bleeding, should I come in to the clinic? Yes, but if the bleeding is rapid and is causing dizziness or severe pain, you should be taken to the emergency room.
